Work on Yakima Avenue will slow down travel until Thursday
Yakima Town crews are busy with late summer work on the city streets as the fall months quickly approach. A number of municipal projects are still ongoing, including work underway along North First Street, with the North First Street Revitalization Project. This work is expected to be completed in October, which will result in a newly renovated entrance to the city with a new street, lighting and landscaping.
If you are driving downtown, construction continues until Thursday on Yakima Avenue.
A press release from the city says that following the work, Yakima Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 7th Avenue to 8th Street during scheduled project working hours from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. next two mornings. You may want to avoid the area until Thursday afternoon.
Drivers are reminded that the speed limit in all traffic-related work zones in Yakima City is 20 miles per hour.
WAIT FOR DELAYS ALONG YAKIMA AVENUE
City press releases say;
“During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternative routes until the project is completed.
Access to businesses in the project area will be maintained at best.
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily depending on weather conditions, equipment failures and emergencies.
