When it comes to holiday desserts, nothing could be more classic than a delicious Yule log! This chocolate log is the perfect rich, chocolatey treat to satisfy your guests after a hearty holiday meal. Plus, it’s a great excuse to start the New Year by testing your baking skills!

For filling

  • 8 ounces of cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipped cream

  • 1/3 cup crushed graham crackers

For the exterior icing

The tools used

  1. Preheat the oven to 390 ° F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In the bowl of a blender, whisk together eggs and powdered sugar for about 10 minutes or until thickened. Then add the flour and cocoa powder.

  3. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and spread it evenly with a spatula. Bake for 10 minutes.

  4. While the cake is baking, prepare the filling. In the bowl of a blender, soften the cream cheese, then add the sugar and cocoa powder. Stir in the heavy whipped cream.

  5. Take a clean, damp cloth (it should be damp to the touch but not dripping) and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  6. Once the cake is baked, invert it on the tea towel as soon as it comes out of the oven and remove the paper on which it was baked.

  7. Roll the cake and napkin into a Yule log shape, holding them firmly together. Let it cool completely.

  8. To make the chocolate frosting, melt the chocolate and butter together in a bowl in the microwave and mix. Then add the vanilla, icing sugar and milk. Leave to cool in the refrigerator to thicken.

  9. Once the cake has cooled, unroll it from the tea towel. The cake should be soft. Spread your filling on the unrolled cake using the back of a spoon or an icing spread. Be careful not to punch holes in the cake! Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs over filling.

  10. Re-roll your cake.

  11. Once the chocolate frosting is thick enough, spread it on your cake.

  12. Sprinkle the top of the cake with icing sugar. Enjoy!
