Ramen Chain Menya Musashi Teams Up With Lotte Chocolate For One-of-a-Kind Valentine’s Day Dish
A mazesoba-inspired menu item full of notes of chocolate and zesty spices!
Valentine’s Day is coming and you know what that means: new chocolate-themed foods! While you can expect confectioneries and bakeries to produce new types of chocolates to celebrate the holidays, such as KitKat’s chocolate bears, some restaurants also often incorporate chocolate into sweet and savory dishes on menu menus. limited time. One of these restaurants is a Japanese noodle chain Menya Musashiwho always celebrates Valentine’s Day joins forces with chocolate maker Lotte and the release of chocolate ramen dishes, among others.
This year they offer a chocolate-flavored dish inspired by mazesoba–a dry noodle dish that comes with various toppings that you mix together before eating. It’s called Maze-Ghana 2022 ~Monblanc Spice~, but while the name might make you think it’s a dessert, it’s definitely not. It also does not contain noodles… so it is full of surprises!
In fact, it’s a unique marriage of Lotte’s Ghana milk chocolate and spices. The dish uses a combination of dry spices and oilsincluding a powder of coriander, cumin, fennel and cocoa nibs, and a homemade oil with scents of star anise, cinnamon, bay leaves and cloves.
These spices and oils are associated with a jumped up lotus roots, burdock roots, shimeji mushrooms and eringi mushrooms, ground beef seasoned with star anise and chocolate sweet and sour pork.
Then the whole dish is topped with a Spicy Chocolate Monblancwhich looks like noodles.
The dish is full of surprise chocolate elements as well as a mix of sweet and savory spices, so it’s sure to be an interesting dish! It almost makes you wonder if that’s too much, but given that last year’s chocolate Chaghana mazesoba (which actually had ramen noodles in it, unlike this year) had an equally complex range of flavors and was still very good, we are inclined to trust in the experimental expertise of Menya Musashi.
