Fishguard and Distict Round Table bring happiness
Festive bliss has been brought to dozens of homes across North Pembrokeshire with the delivery of party baskets by Fishguard and District Round Table.
The roundtable gathers and delivers baskets each year, asking the community to name anyone who has struggled a little bit lately, or who has gone beyond the call of duty for one reason or another.
After another difficult year because of Covid, the tablers received double the usual number of nominations and delivered 30 baskets. They also delivered chocolates and cookies to local care homes.
The group thanked the local business that had helped them by donating items and sponsoring the baskets.
He thanked the main sponsor – Castle Hot Tubs; Goodwick Motors – which donated cookies and chocolates to nursing homes; Tesco Express in Goodwick for the pies; Total Produce for fruit, Naturals for chocolates and Morrisons for other donations.
“The baskets are extremely important to us,” said a spokesperson for the roundtable.
“They help us and our community to let people know, who may not have the best hand, that they are on our minds.
“The nursing home staff were also very grateful and thanked us for thinking of them during the difficult few years they went through.
“We do not work alone and we are blown away year after year by the support given by local businesses to our Christmas baskets. You have all helped to bring some extra Christmas sparkle to people’s day. ”
Roundtable chair Rhys Williams added:
“Reading the nominations is always heartbreaking and we send our best wishes to all who have been nominated.
“We were told that receiving a basket was a little light in a dark time.”
